A car dealer in the Zollernalbkreis, one man, a good hundred vehicles. Every enquiry waited until the kitchen table. This is how the reply now goes out within minutes, without him learning a new program.
Who in your business answers the enquiry that comes in at twenty to eight in the evening? In most small businesses the answer is: the boss, at some point. Between test drives, the workshop and the vehicle registration office, there is not a minute to spare during the day. In the evening the phone lies on the kitchen table and the day gets worked through. Anyone who has not had a reply by then asks the next dealer.
This is not guesswork. According to the matelso lead management study 2024, 43 per cent of prospective buyers switch to another dealer or brand after four hours without a response. And when buying a used car, six out of ten customers want the first contact to be digital, almost one in four via WhatsApp (DEKRA/Ipsos, 2025).
A car dealer here in the region, one man, a good hundred vehicles in stock. Enquiries come in via WhatsApp, via the listings portal, via the contact form. All of them land with him. He is sales, workshop, bookkeeping and reception at the same time. His bottleneck is not a tool. His bottleneck is that there is only one of him.
We did not put anything new on his desk. The automation sits underneath his tools, not in front of them. Three steps:
He learns exactly one new thing: pressing a button. No second program, no login, no training.
The automation never replies on its own. In the first few weeks it only drafts alongside him, and he compares the drafts with what he would have written himself. Only once the drafts are right does it go into daily use, and even then the button stays.
Technically, this runs through the official WhatsApp Business interface, not a private app, with the customer’s consent and on a server in Germany. That is not an extra. It is the precondition for a business being allowed to use something like this at all.
The reply goes out in minutes instead of the next morning. We are deliberately not giving figures on closed sales yet; the trial phase is still running. What is already certain: the decision stays with him, every single one, and the evening at the kitchen table gets shorter.
For five days, count how many enquiries come in after six in the evening and when they are answered. One tally mark per enquiry, a time next to it. The list will tell you more about your bottleneck than any consultation.
